I have a confession to make. I’ve never read the Bible. Well, let me clarify… I’ve never read the whole Bible. Yes, even though my father was a minister and I was quite active in church growing up, I’m one of those Christians who’s never actually read the Bible.
But when Beth and I decided to move to Abu Dhabi, I decided that one thing I wanted to do was to read the Koran. The Middle East and Islam have become a daily part of our evening news, but we know so little about what they believe. I’ve been lucky enough in the past to visit mosques on a couple of different occasions and have heard the magnificent chanters recite the holy words of the Koran. I know reading it in English is cheating a bit, but I don’t think I’m quite ready to tackle it in the original Arabic.
I officially cracked the cover last night, but haven’t even gotten past the preface yet. Stay tuned for more…
